Position: Child Care Assistant / Inclusion Facilitator (School Age Program)

Status: Term contract with possibility of extension (current end date TBD)

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Rainbow Day Nursery - Phase 5 (315 Sage Creek Boulevard)

Rate of Pay: $19.97 per hour (inclusion); non-inclusion hours are paid at the rate of $19.97 per hour with 40-hour training, or $16.00 without

Hours/Schedule:  

School days: 2.5 inclusion hours and 1.5 regular hours per day on split shift (7:00-9:00am and 3:15-5:15pm; afternoon shift is 2:15-5:15pm on early dismissal days)

In-service/school breaks: 8 hours per day (7 inclusion hours and 1 regular hour)

Additional hours may also be available. Schedules may vary. Candidates must be available to work all shifts within centre operating hours (7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday).

General Description: 

Working with a strong team including the program Supervisor, co-workers, family, Assistant Director, Circle of Security facilitator and other behavior specialists. We have 2 school age rooms, licensed for 40 and 30 children ages 5-12.

Specific Responsibilities: 

• Provide a safe, caring and educational environment 

• Provide additional support within the program to help co-regulate children with additional support needs

• Observe and anticipate children’s triggers and offer tools to help regulate (e.g. deep breathing techniques, fidget gadgets, offering safe places, sensory exploration, etc.)

• General daily responsibilities include diapering, assisting children in the bathroom, providing lunch and snacks, outdoor play, activities, and group activities such as circle time

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Positive attitude with lots of energy and creativity

• Works well independently and as part of a team

• Familiarity with emergent curriculum/play-based approach

• Familiarity with Circle of Security philosophy an asset but not required

• Ability to take initiative and think outside the box

• Eligible candidates must obtain/provide: 

  • • CCA classification

    • First Aid/CPR

    • Commit to kids certificate

    • Current Criminal/Child Abuse Check

    • Center-provided Circle of Security training

    • 40-hour child development course completed within the first year of employment
