Position: School Age/Infant Program Supervisor - ECE II/III

Status: Full-time with benefits  

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Rainbow Day Nursery - Phase 2 (445 Island Shore Boulevard)

Rate of Pay: Commensurate with skills and experience. Starting wage is $29.91 (ECE II) and $31.87 (ECE III).

Hours/Schedule:  

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 8 hour split shifts on regular school days and straight shifts on inservice days. 

Schedules may vary, and candidates must be available to work all shifts within centre operating hours (7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday).

General Description: 

Working with a strong team including the Assistant Director, ECEs, and CCAs, the Supervisor will ensure an organized, purposeful program that includes a safe, healthy, hazard-free environment and a well-planned emergent, play-based curriculum.

School age program consists of 19 school age 5 to 12 years old (Grades 1 to 6), Infant program consists of 4 infants ages 3 - 24 months.

Specific Responsibilities: 

• Provide direction and guidance to Infant and Preschool staff regarding the program/curriculum, health and safety, and human resources concerns

• Plan and implement curriculum using developmentally-appropriate emergent, play-based activities

• Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements and health & safety or other regulations

• Observe, anticipate and help regulate children’s behaviours by offering tools and support as needed

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Early Childhood Educator Level II or III

• Ability to communicate effectively with families, children, staff and other professionals

• Creativity/outside the box thinking

• Experience developing emergent curriculum using a play-based approach

• Familiarity with Circle of Security philosophy an asset but not required

• Eligible candidates must obtain/provide: 

  • • ECE classification

    • First Aid/CPR

    • Current Criminal/Child Abuse Check

    • Center-provided Circle of Security training

    • Commit to Kids certificate
