Position: Child Care Assistant - Infant Program / Flexible to work in other programs

Status: Full-time with benefits

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Rainbow Day Nursery - Phase 3A (180-50 Lakewood Boulevard)

Rate of Pay: $20.57 per hour with 40-hour training, or $16.40 without. 40-hour training must be completed within one year of hire in order to continue employment. 

Hours/Schedule:  Eight hours per day, Monday to Friday, including paid 45-minute break. Schedules may vary based on operational needs, and candidates must be available to work all shifts within the centre’s operating hours (7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday).

General Description: 

Working with a strong team including the program Supervisor, co-workers, family, Assistant Director, Circle of Security facilitator and other behavior specialists, the Child Care Assistant will support our Infant program, which provides care for 16 infants under the age of two.

Specific Responsibilities: 

• Provide a safe, caring and educational environment 

• Provide additional support within the program to help co-regulate children with additional support needs

• General daily responsibilities include diapering, providing lunch and snacks, outdoor play, activities, and group activities such as circle time

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Positive attitude with lots of energy and creativity

• Works well independently and as part of a team

• Familiarity with emergent curriculum/play-based approach

• Familiarity with Circle of Security philosophy an asset but not required; candidate must be able to offer a safe place for children to express feelings and emotions

• Ability to take initiative and think outside the box

• Eligible candidates must obtain/provide: 

  • CCA classification

  • First Aid/CPR

  • Commit to Kids certificate

  • Current Criminal/Child Abuse Check

  • Centre-provided Circle of Security training
