Position: ECE II - School Age program
Status: Full-time with benefits
Start Date: April 27, 2026
Location: Rainbow Day Nursery - Phase 3C (90-115 Vermillion Road) & Phase 4 (255 Vermillion Road)
Rate of Pay: $28.36 per hour
Hours/Schedule: Eight hours per day including paid 45-minute break, Monday to Friday. Candidates must be available to work all shifts within centre operating hours (7:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday). On in-service days, full shift is worked at Phase 3C location. On school days, schedule may vary and will include split shifts (7.25 hours of work) worked at two locations in the same day. At this time, the anticipated schedule is:
8:00-9:00 at Phase 3C
9:00-2:30 at Phase 4
2:30-4:30 at Phase 3C
General Description:
Working with a strong team including the program Supervisor, CCA’s, Inclusion Facilitators, Family, Assistant Director, Circle of Security Facilitator and other behavior specialists, the ECE II supports two programs: Phase 3C School Age program, consisting of 40 children aged 5 to 12 years old (Grades K to 6), and the Pre-Kinder program located at Phase 4.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provide a safe, caring and educational environment
Provide direction and guidance to staff regarding the program/curriculum, health and safety and human resources concerns
Able to take lead in the absence of the Supervisor, by planning breaks/shifts and supporting staff and families
Plan and implement curriculum using developmentally-appropriate emergent play based activities
Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements
Provide additional support within the program to help co-regulate children with additional support needs
Observe and anticipate children’s triggers and offer tools to help regulate (e.g. deep breathing techniques, fidget gadgets, offering safe places, sensory exploration, etc.)
Participate in daily bus runs/school pick-up/drop-off
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Familiarity with emergent curriculum/play-based approach
Familiarity with Circle of Security philosophy an asset but not required
Positive attitude, with lots of energy and creativity
Ability to take initiative and think outside the box
Must be able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
Eligible candidates must obtain/provide:
ECE classification
First Aid/CPR
Current Criminal/Child Abuse Check
Commit to Kids Certificate
Centre-provided Circle of Security training
Class 4 drivers license, or willingness to get Class 4 license
