Position: ECE II - Preschool Program

Status: Full-time position with benefits

Start Date: August 5, 2025 

Location: Rainbow Day Nursery - Phase 4 (255 Vermillion Road)

Rate of Pay: Commensurate with experience; starting wage for ECE II (Level 1) is $27.56 per hour

Hours/Schedule: Eight hours per day, Monday to Friday. Schedules may vary and candidates must be available to work all shifts within the centre's operating hours (7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday). 

General Description: 

Working with a strong team including the program Supervisor, co-workers, family and the Assistant Director to provide a safe, caring and educational environment. The program consists of 32 children aged 2-5 years. Children are in groups of 16.

Specific Responsibilities: 

• Assist in planning and implementing daily activities for preschool

• Create a safe, caring educational environment for children

• Provide additional support within the program to help co-regulate children with additional support needs

• Ensure the safety and well being of all children at all times

• Implement and complete daily routines/ transitions/ various cleaning duties

• Provide compassionate, attentive care to children

• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes learning and development

• Communicate effectively with parents and co-workers

• Be a supportive team member who is able to collaborate and work with other team members to achieve program goals

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Positive attitude with lots of energy and creativity

• Works well independently and as part of a team

• Familiarity with emergent curriculum/play-based approach

• Familiarity with Circle of Security philosophy an asset but not required; candidate must be able to offer a safe place for children to express feelings and emotions

• Ability to take initiative and think outside the box

• Eligible candidates must obtain/provide: 

  • • CCA classification prior to start date

    • First Aid/CPR prior to start date

    • Current Criminal/Child Abuse Check

    • Center-provided Circle of Security training

    • 40-hour child development course completed within the first year of employment

• Class 4 driver's license an asset but not required
