Position: Child Care Assistant (Early Years program)
Status: Term contract (end date TBD)
Start Date: February 17, 2026
Location: Rainbow Day Nursery - Phase 5 (315 Sage Creek Boulevard)
Rate of Pay: Commensurate with experience, starting at $19.40 per hour with 40-hour training, or $16.00 without. Rainbow Day Nursery offers competitive wages, pension plan and opportunities for professional development for all employees each year.
Hours/Schedule: Eight hours per day, Monday to Friday, including paid 45-minute break. Schedules may vary, and may include split shifts. Candidates must be available to work all shifts within centre operating hours (7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday).
General Description:
Working with a strong team including the program Supervisor, co-workers, family and the Assistant Director to provide a safe, caring and educational environment in the Early Years program, which is licensed for ten children, 18 months to 3 years.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provide a safe, caring and educational environment
Provide additional support within the program to help co-regulate children with additional support needs
Observe and anticipate children’s triggers and offer tools to help regulate (e.g. deep breathing techniques, fidget gadgets, offering safe places, sensory exploration, etc.)
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Familiarity with emergent curriculum/play-based approach
Familiarity with Circle of Security philosophy an asset but not required
Ability to take initiative and think outside the box
Eligible candidates must obtain/provide:
CCA classification
First Aid/CPR
Current Criminal/Child Abuse Check
Center-provided Circle of Security training
40-hour child development course completed within the first year of employment
Commit to Kids training
